About NorthWest Hospice

Peter Horan is best known for his unique and natural South Sligo style fiddle and flute playing. Peter, a native of Killavil, Gurteen, County Sligo died in Northwest Hospice in October 2010 at the age of 84 after a short illness.

As a tribute to Peter Horan, a concert will take place on Saturday 15th of October 2011, in his hometown Gurteen, which will feature an array of local musicians, dancers and artists. It promises to be a fantastic night of Irish music, song and dance with all proceeds from the concert going to the very worthy North West Hospice.

Throughout his career, Peter received numerous accolades for his music, most recently in 2009 he was recognised and honoured by NUIG and St Angelas College Sligo with an Honourary Masters of Music. In 2002, he received the Prestigious TG4 Irish Music Awards "Hall of Fame" Award at Cork Opera House and in recent years South Sligo Summer School and Ceomhaltas paid tribute to the legendary Peter Horan.

The Family of Peter Horan would like to take this oppurtunity to sincerely thank all musicians and artists who are giving up their time to pay tribute to Peter and help raise funds for the very worthy cause, the NorthWest Hospice.
